A multi-octave five-bit MMIC phase shifter with compatible different control signals [using MESFETs]

Design, fabrication and performance of a multi-octave five-bit MMIC phase shifter with compatible different control signals is described. 22.5/spl deg/ and 11.25/spl deg/ phase shift bits are a topology of a sharing Lange coupler. High performance (low peak phase error: /spl les/6/spl deg/ for 180/spl deg/, 90/spl deg/ and 45/spl deg/ phase shift bits, low VSWR: /spl les/1.9, low insertion loss variations: /spl les/15/spl plusmn/0.8 dB over 5 to 20 GHz frequency range) and the small size (4.2 mm/spl times/3.2 mm/spl times/0.1 mm) are exhibited.
