Wideband Direction-of-Arrival Estimation with Cross-Sample Matching Technique on L-Shaped Microphone Arrays

This paper presents a novel two-dimensional wideband direction-of-arrival estimation method for an L-shaped microphone array model. Our study provides an alternative but highly efficient way to construct a universal cross-correlation matrix in the wideband subspace method by using all samples from both identical and distinct domains of frequencies. To avoid computational burden caused by intensive use the sample from all domains, the optimal mathematical model of received signal for all frequency is derived and proposed without loss of generality. Numerical simulations show that the performance of proposed method can be especially effective over range with a more favorable signal-to-noise ratio. This advantage makes it suitable for practical implementation in acoustic signal processing.
