Investigation of the mechanical strength of a magnetic-non-magnetic sleeve of a permanent magnet generator

This paper reviews the current technologies used in constructing aviation generators through an extensive research of such rotor sleeves topologies as: magnetic non-magnetic, bimetal and gradient materials. It was researched how the shape of the cage influences the mechanical stress. The force of one-sided magnetic attraction was calculated. The technique takes into account, firstly, the change in induction in the working gap at eccentricity, secondly, the geometry of the core and, finally, the scattering fluxes. The results of the research provide an opportunity for a further increase of the rotor speed and, thus, the power of the electric machine.
