The Social Acceptability Issues that can be Expected in Logistics

All engineering sectors are facing social acceptability problems. Mining, heavy industries, electricity production, social networks, etc. Using the 17 Goals for environment defined by UN and the 13 grand challenges defined by the national academy of science, we can anticipate social acceptability problems for logistic sector in following sectors: GHG emission; Mineral resource consumption; Health, typically in big cities; transportation Infrastructures; quality of life in big cities. The proportion of GHG due to logistic will increase in the future, increasing the pressure on mineral resources, particular platinum group. A better use of the current fleet of trucks by increasing the loading rate will decrease GHG emission, but will also increase the degradation of infrastructure. Alternative Fuel vehicles can solve part of the PM-2.5 problem in cities but will have few effects on GHG emission and will move the mineral pressure to lithium and rare earths. Today, people accept the ratio of premature deaths per 100000 individuals due to pollution in cities, mainly PM2.5 due to transportation, but it can change in the future. After a great decrease in the past, this ratio is now stable. Logistic sector has to be prepared to these different issues.
