Building a Corpus of Representations of China in English-Language Novels, 1927–2007

We present a database of representations of China in English-language novels with the goal of revealing the construction of China in the Western cultural imaginary. We have collected 9,383 passages from 6,840 literary works. The database is released under an open license.
