21st Century Syllabus: Aggregating Electronic Resources for Innovation-Based Learning

Our research group presents lessons learned and a newly created web tool related to an Innovation-Based Learning course offered to college undergraduate and graduate students. The course incorporates a variety of modern instructional techniques including blended learning, MOOC instruction, project-based learning, just-in-time learning, remote digital collaboration, and student-selected learning objectives. Aggregation is the term we use for both a posture of openness and a policy of rapid adoption as it relates to emerging web tools for student learning, productivity, and collaboration. We discuss both theoretical and tactical elements of managing a course in which students are afforded maximum freedom/flexibility while also being held accountable for their academic performance.
