The Shielding Factor of the Steel Mesh For High-Intensity Magnetic Field Protection

An analytical shielding factor (SF) is able to be used for protecting the high intensity magnetic fields from the lightning currents such as the first stroke currents and subsequent stroke currents. The (SF) is evaluated by the characteristics of the metal mesh with the width of the mesh (w) and the radius of conductor of the metal mesh (SF). The metal mesh (Grid-like shield) with the shielding effect has been approved by the international standard IEC 62305-4. However, any metal mesh products in Thailand have never been evaluated by using the value of SF. This is a problem for practical application. Therefore, this paper presents the analysis of the shielding factor (SF) for all types of the metal mesh products in the domestic market. Also, the metal mesh needs to be considered on the steel mesh as it is popular to use for application items.
