A Study of Adaptive CMOS Circuits Extracting Feature of Neuroplasticity in Human Brain

Human Brain can learn new things and adapt in new environment. The paper goal is to study learning trends and adaption capability of human brain. The feature of learning, programming and adaption of brain has been emulated using CMOS based circuits. Such circuits can develop devices/chips to recover from traumatic brain injuries, enhance memory abilities; effective learning and can enhance wide range of cognitive abilities of brain. The paper illustrates various CMOS based circuits, like neural firing rate detector, adaptive winner takes all circuit (WTA), time staggered WTA and a bimolecular sensor network. The designs are using Floating gate MOSFET (FGMOS) adaptive model and considered it as a brain synapse (neuron). Post fabrication programming, self-adaption and non-volatile storing capability of FGMOS have been extracted to emulate various such features of human brain. The FGMOS synapse simulation model has also been discussed.
