Reliability of Fovea Features Measurement from 3D OCT Images for Monitoring Treatment Outcome

The research presented in this article aims to determine the reliability of fovea features measurements from a 3D optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. Parameters describing the shape of the human eye retina has a substantial role in the determination of the progress towards the patient's recovery. The correctness of these calculations may influence the diagnostic process. The authors investigated the impact of the acquisition conditions on the accuracy of fovea pit contour (FPC) determination. Experimental research was based on three-dimensional scans of healthy eyes and eyes after retina detachment surgery. The scans were acquired with the use of the Avanti RTvue device.
