The Role Uncertainty of Measurements in the Formation of Acceptance Criteria

The article shows that due to incomplete knowledge about the controlled value, which is reflected by the distribution of its probabilities, there is a risk of an incorrect decision when determining whether an item complies with the specified requirements. With incorrect decisions associated consumer's risk and the producer's risk. The presence of measurement uncertainty affects the inspection procedure and makes it necessary to establish a balance between consumer's risk and the producer's risk. The problem of calculating the probability of conformity and the probability of incorrect solutions for given probability distributions and given limits of the acceptance interval is considered. It is shown that the risks of an incorrect decision in terms of compliance or non-compliance with the specified requirements can be balanced by choosing an acceptance interval for the obtained values of the measured value in such a way as to minimize losses associated with erroneous decisions. This will ensure maximum reliability of the results.
