Design and Measurement of Compact Hexa-Band Antenna for S, C and X-Band Applications

Here, a conventional shaped rectangular microstrip patch antenna for Hexa-band frequency of operation is designed and measured. The design is embedded with slots in both horizontal and vertical manner in order to provide multi-frequency of operation. The ground plane is included with a cross-shaped slot to provide additional resonant frequency with improved performance. The simulation was done using the Ansoft HFSS and the measurement is done with the ZVL Network Analyzer. The applications are of Airport Surveillance radar, Radar Alimeter, Transmit frequency of Super Extended C-band, INSAT and for Radiolocation. The bandwidth obtained is greater than 500 MHz for the most of the S, C and X-band frequencies obtained. Antenna parameters like Return Loss and VSWR in terms of simulation and measurement is conferred, with the other parameters like Gain, Bandwidth, Directivity and radiation pattern in terms of simulation is given below.
