64 × 64 MIMO Antenna Arranged in a Daisy Chain Array Structure at 50 Gbps Capacity

In this paper, we advance the concept of a daisy chain array structure to create a 64 × 64 multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) array that can maintain a 50 Gbps transmission rate in the whole azimuth without appreciable degradation. 64 independent subchannels for MIMO multiple transmission are achieved by pairing two elements for each subarray arranged in a dual-ring configuration. It is clarified that this remarkably high channel capacity is attributed to the two significant factors; an improved directivity due to an optimum in-phase excitation and low correlations between the subarrays caused by the orthogonal alignment of the array with respect to incident waves.
