Preliminary Outcomes, Problems and Countermeasures of Blended Synchronous Learning Environment: A Case Study in China

As a new form of distance education, Blended Synchronous Learning Environment (BSLE) is a new teaching environment which breaks through the limitation of time and space, realizes the integration of physics classrooms and another learning space, and enables learners to participate in classroom learning synchronously. But in China, the BSLE is endowed with a more unique practical significance - Blended Synchronous Classroom (BSC) - to solve the problem of educational equilibrium. This research is based on a BSC project in Zhejiang Province, China. From the perspective of grounded theory, it mainly collects case data from interviews, physical materials and observations. The purpose of this study is to use the principle of triangular demonstration to cross-contrast and analyze the preliminary outcomes of this BSC project, then explore the key problems in this BSC, and give corresponding countermeasures in combination with specific situations, so as to lay a foundation for the future development of the BSC to enhance its robustness. At the same time, it provides some reference for the development and optimization of BSC in China, and endows the blended synchronous learning environment with new connotation.
