Power Electronic Load System for Motor Drivers Testing Considering Motor Faulty Status Simulation

As the demand for motor drivers testing increases, new test platforms are becoming more convenient and cost effective by replacing the motor-generator test rig with a power electronic load system (PELS), which can simulate load motors behaviors. In this paper, the back-to-back converter is used as an asynchronous motor simulator considering the asymmetry fault status. Complicated motor operating condition causes current reference asymmetrical and rich in harmonics, making it difficult to track in real time. Meanwhile, the second harmonic voltage on the DC side distorts grid-connected current. Thus, a high bandwidth quasi proportional resonant (QPR) controller is designed for current tracking. And an adaptive filter is proposed for harmonic control. Simulation and experimental results prove the validity and correctness of the mathematical model and control strategies.
