A Novel Fault diagnosis Method for Power Converter of Doubly Salient Electro-Magnetic Motor

Power converter is a weak link in motor drive system. Its fault will cause the motor to run in unbalanced state, and may cause damage to the whole system. Therefore, fault diagnosis of power converter is the key to improve the reliability of motor drive system. Firstly, the fault of full-bridge converter in doubly salient electro-magnetic Motor (DSEM) drive system is analyzed and classified. Secondly, the three-phase current is reconstructed by dc-link current without affecting the motor control. On this basis, the fault diagnosis of full-bridge converter is completed by dc-kink current. Finally, the simulation results show that the method can diagnose the fault of full-bridge converter quickly and accurately, and effectively improve the reliability of the system.
