Study of harmonic content and influence of common electrical appliances used in residential installations

In this paper, we report the findings derived from measurements in a typical residential installation in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. Common electrical appliances were studied individually and then measurements were made to the whole house installation using a digital analyser for the monitoring of harmonic distortion in voltage and current. Individual results were out of the norm specifications for several appliances, but it was found that the combination of them produced a less distorted home system.
