Tribological Characteristics of (TiZrNbTaHf)N/MoN Nanocomposite Coating

The new type (TiZrNbHfTa)N/MoN of nitride coatings were deposited on 12×18N9T steel substrate by vacuum arc deposition under different substrate bias and working pressure. The tribological properties of the (TiZrNbHfTa)N/MoN coatings against Al₂O₃and Ac100Cr6 steel balls are evaluated by a ball-on-disc tribometer. It was shown that the wear rate for different type of counterbodies is calculated in the range of (0.39 - 2.8).10^-5mm³ × N^-1 x mm^-1. The deposition under high energetic condition leads to increasing of wear resistance and the wear is inherent to abrasion mechanism.
