Threats of Recent Urban Air Pollution in Dakar-Senegal

Urban pollution in most cities in West Africa has exceeded the World Health Orrganization (WHO) limit. Inhabitants of such location are potentially at risk of natural accidents among others. Till date, there are inadequate ground measurement dataset on the research area. The dataset that was adopted for this research work was obtained from the Multi-angle Imaging Spectro-Radiometer (MISR). Dataset from 2000 to 2013 were acquired to make necessary inferences in this study. It is observed that the retention of accumulated aerosols (i.e. aerosol loading) is high on a yearly basis. For example, the aerosols loading in year 2001, 2006, 2011 and 2013 was 12.65%, 16.01%, 14.3% and 16.5% respectively.
