Development of Narrow-Strip Ultra-Wideband Antenna with Lumped Elements for Indoor Wireless Devices

The procedure to design a narrow-strip ultra-wideband printed monopole antenna with lumped elements is elucidated in this paper. Inductors connected between the radiating strips of the monopole aid in achieving ultra-wide bandwidth in a narrow-strip architecture, thereby overcoming one of the major limitations prevalent in most of the antennas designed for ultra-wide bandwidth of operation. The fabricated prototype operates for the ultra-wide range of frequencies between 3.05 GHz and 10.6 GHz with good return loss and radiation characteristics, and hence can be deployed in indoor wireless devices communicating huge volumes of data at very high speeds.
