Wideband Triangular Patch Antenna for Cognitive Radio in TV White Space

In this paper, an antenna design is proposed for use in Cognitive Radio (CR) applications in the TV white Space (TVWS) frequency range (470-806 MHz). The situation of TVWS in India is discussed along with the needs for spectrum sensing through wideband antenna for CR application. A triangular patch is considered as a base design. Then, to achieve the desired bandwidth of TVWS, loading of meander line and passive triangular ring is performed which excites additional resonances adjacent to main resonance. This results in the enhancement of the antenna bandwidth. The results and other parameters are further discussed for an in depth analysis of the designed antenna. The obtained results confirm the usability of the designed antenna for TVWS communication.
