A Ditherless 2.4GHz High Resolution LC DCO

This paper presents an LC-based digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) with an enhanced frequency resolution. Tuning range of the circuit is 2.2GHz to 2.98GHz with a fine resolution of 100Hz. The DCO exhibits a phase noise of -115.3 dBc/Hz at 1MHz frequency offset and a Figure of Merit (FoM) of -181 dBc/Hz. The circuit consumes 1.25mA current and designed with 65-nm eight-metal CMOS technology with an operating supply voltage of 1.0 V.
