Association Between Education Level and e-Cigarette Use Among Young Adults in New York City

In modern society, smoking has become prominent especially with the introduction of a new smoking method of e-cigarettes. The utilization of e-cigarettes in the US has significantly increased due to the reduction in the use of the traditional smoking of the cigarettes. Most of the research has been done on factors such as perception of e-cigarettes and the characteristics and incidence of electronic-cigarette use in the US. It has left a research gap on the relationship between education level and e-cigarette smoking habits. This study aims at finding out the effects of the level of education on e-cigarette smoking habits of young adults between 18 to 44 in New York City. The research method used was a mixed method which involved quantitative technique. Data were collected using the 2017 Community Health Survey (CHS) cross section survey where participants were asked questions through phone calls. It was found that race, age, gender, education levels, and marital status have a relationship with the likelihood of having tried an e-cigarette in the past 12 months in New York City.
