Boosting up the performance of Wi-Fi by improving throughput

The performance of 802.11 wireless networks are affected by load balancing feature. 2.4GHz devices are more as compared to the devices which supports both the bands. Band steering is a technique which steers a device supporting dual bands to 5GHz band by which the load balancing is achieved at the access point. But the dual band devices are increasing day by day leading to a misbalance of the load at the AP. So, the simple band steering is not helpful for load balancing purpose. Therefore, a new solution is proposed for the purpose of steering the clients by considering the average bandwidth consumption by the client during an active session and estimation of the total load on both of the radios of access point. The proposed algorithm ensures that users are being associated to the most capable radio an AP which will improve the throughput and performance of the wireless network.
