Power Quality Improvement of Standalone Wind Energy Generation System for Non Linear Load

The propose paper goal is to design hybrid shunt active power filter (HSAPF) for harmonic cancelation of standalone wind turbine (WT). The wind energy conversion system (WECS) has permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) run by a fixed-speed 12 m/s wind turbine. The wind maximum power point tracking is obtained by switch mode rectifier (SMR) scheme. Voltage harmonic from the output of WEGS is eliminated by passive L_C filter. Current harmonics due to presence of nonlinear uncontrolled converter feeding with R-L load is compensated by shunt active power filter. Hybriding of active and passive gives cost effective solution of power quality. SAPF is consists of three phase insulated gate field effect transistor (IGBT) switches capacitor coupled voltage source inverter (VSI-CC). Reference current generation of SAPF is based on positive sequence detection method using PLL. DC bus voltage regulation is done using Fuzzy logic controller. Proposed system is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink (2015a). The demonstrated results show that suggested system successfully mitigates harmonics as per IEEE 519-1992 standards.
