Impact Evaluation in Tap-Change Voltage Regulators within Photovoltaic Generation

Electricity distribution networks must be carefully evaluated in order to benefit from the insertion of distributed generators. Considering the insertion of photovoltaic systems, the continuous movement of clouds can produce variations of difficult predictability on the voltage levels and the power flow generated. Therefore, it is important to know methods to minimize such impacts, evaluating the iteration between generators and voltage regulators, so that the quality of electricity supply remains within the allowable range. The aim of this work is to investigate the performance of tap-on-load and tap changers (OLTC) using the IEEE 34 bus system. Thus, it was considered the presence of photovoltaic generators in IEEE 34 bus system, with different generation conditions, load characteristics (constant or variable) and actuation adjustment time of the regulating equipment. The use of analyzes known as Quasi-Static Time-Series for the electrical simulations were performed in the Open Distribution System Simulator (OpenDSS) software.
