Structural Properties of Polycrystalline BaGa2O4 Ceramics Doped with Eu3+ Ions

Polycrystalline BaGa
₂
O
₄
ceramics doped with Eu
³⁺
ions (1,3 and 4 mol%) were obtained using solid state sintering. Structural properties of these ceramics were investigated using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction methods. It is shown that BaGa
₂
O
₄
ceramics are characterized by advanced structure of grains, grain boundaries and pores. Base undoped BaGa
₂
O
₄
ceramics contain three phases, samples with 3 and 4 mol% of Eu
₂
O
₃
are the mixtures of two phases (BaGa
₂
O
₄
and EU
₃
GaO
₆
), while BaGa
₂
O
₄
ceramics with 1 mol% of Eu
₂
O
₃
contain only one (Ba,Eu)Ga
₂
O
₄
phase of own structural type.
