A compact dual band ring antenna with embedding grounded patches

A compact nested ring patch antenna with grounded vias is proposed in this paper. The outer ring and the meandered inner ring of the proposed antenna are nested in a single radiation layer for miniaturization. The antenna size is further reduced through embedding four small patches with grounded vias in the meandered inner ring. The side length of the inner square ring is only .16 λ_g (guided wavelength), while the side length of the outer square ring is 0.25λ_g.
