Modified Floquet Scattering Matrix Method for Solving N-path Networks

With advances in semiconductor technology, researchers have begun exploring periodic time-modulation as a route to non-reciprocity. One such device, recently used to achieve non-reciprocity, is a N-path network. However, N-path networks can be difficult to design since the number of unknowns in simulation becomes proportional to the number of paths. By relating the frequency harmonics on the different paths, the problem size is reduced by a factor of N (the number of paths). This dramatically reduces the runtime and memory requirements, and improves the convergence of N-path network simulations. Following a description of the computational method used in this work, a validation of the code and an application example is reported.
