The Dual Weighted Residual and Error Estimation in Double Higher-Order FEM

We summarize the application of the dual weighted residual for error estimation for a double higher-order finite element method solution in frequency-domain computational electromagnetics. These error estimates facilitate intelligent refinement strategies, allowing an automated targeting of potential problems in a discretization, both in terms of accuracy and efficiency. We outline the construction of the dual weighted residual for three-dimensional scattering problems, and demonstrate error contribution estimates for two examples.
