Overview of 5G mm-Wave Antenna Design Solutions in Cellular Phones: AiP, AiA, and AiAiP

This paper for the invited talk is to present an overview of the current mainstream mm-Wave antenna design solution, the antenna in package (AiP), especially for cell phones and base stations; two novel and promising solutions, the mm-Wave antennas in non-mm-Wave antennas (AiA), and the mm-Wave antennas in non-mm-Wave antennas integrating a package (AiAiP). The AiP is mature and popular nowadays. The AiA can go beyond the metal coverage limitation so that the color, material, and finishing (CMF) designs based on metal can be better ensured; the AiAiP can mitigate AiA's path losses so that the radiation performance can be further enhanced accordingly.
