Investigation of Static Angular and Axis Misalignment in an AFPM Generator

This study investigates the effect of the static angular and the static axis misalignment on an axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) machine using 3D finite element method (FEM). The AFPM machine is a single-stator-single-rotor generator with a coreless, star-connected stator. The EMF waveforms of the machine coils, the corresponding spectra, as well as the spectra of the phase EMF sum (V

) are used for the identification of the faults. The main novelty is that the EMF coil waveforms and spectra have not been used previously for diagnostic purposes in the static axis misalignment. In addition, there are not papers in the international literature that use the voltage V

spectrum for eccentricity diagnosis in AFPM machines.
