Generation of Vegetation Fraction (VF) from Resourcesat-2 AWiFS Images

Vegetation Fraction (VF) is an important input parameter in many ecological models, meso-scale climate models and environmental change models. VF represents the amount of vegetation coverage over a ground pixel in vertical projection. An attempt is made to generate VF images at fine resolution of 56m using Resourcesat-2 AWiFS data as compared to currently available OCM2 VF, Proba-V Vegetation Fcover images. Further validation of these VF products is carried out for various land cover types. We also analyzed the four years (2014 to 2017) VF products and found that R² is more than 0.95.
