Augmentation of the Heat Recovery Steam Generator in the CCGT cycle as the way to reduce the CO2 emissions

The following paper presents results of the analysis concerning different Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) structures. The analysis has been preceded by description of the challenges for the Polish power system and the role of Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT) in its future. Subsequently, analysed solutions computed in Ebsilon Professional are demonstrated. The presented cycles had their parameters optimized, using programme's optimization module, in order to achieve maximal nett efficiency. For the analysed structures key parameters were computed (gross and nett efficiency, CO₂ emissions) and compared with coal-fired units and simple cycle gas turbine in order to show higher efficiency and emissions reduction that can be achieved by implementation of CCGT based solutions on a larger scale.
