Media Database Solution for Chagas Disease Treatments

This paper presents a custom development platform for manage digital images referring to models of infection associated with Chagas disease; providing support to the activities of microscope acquisition, image processing, storage and data export. The main objective is to increase accuracy and reduce execution time in comparison to the manual activities that are currently done, to measure treatment effectiveness against the disease. The solution integrates algorithms for image processing, a module to automate the process activities and one unified image repository implementation and their respective metadata, to facilitate their identification and classification by different criteria. The implemented solution offers a collaborative environment that allows sharing not only the images and their metadata, but also ideas and conclusions regarding a particular research topic; to have feedback and comments from other medical teams.
