Analysis of Processes in System “Power-Supply Unit - Electric Precipitator” in Integrated Package MATHCAD

One of the most advanced methods of gas purification from dust and fog in electric precipitator using corona discharge is considered; there the degree of gas purification depends on the magnitude and form of applied voltage, which determines the electric field intensity in electric precipitator. The changing border of breakdown has to be constantly monitored by the automatic control system that the electric precipitator worked on the border of breakdown voltage with maximum efficiency. It is shown that the power supply unit of the electric precipitator and the electric precipitator itself should be considered not separately but as one single system, on the properties of which the productivity and operational reliability of the electric gas purification devices depend. The equivalent circuit and mathematical model for researching processes in “power-supply unit - electric precipitator” with half-wave rectification in the integrated package MATHCAD is offered. The approximation of a non-linear volt-ampere characteristic of electric precipitator with the use of power function and function with condition is offered. The function with condition is applied also to approximation of resistance of the semiconductor diode for different polarities. The results of the research of a mathematical model of an electric precipitator are given in the form of oscillograms the shape of which coincides well with experimental curves. The research results can be useful in the development of regulated power sources of electric precipitators and other devices, because for making intellectual control systems of these devices it is necessary to know the exact description of the processes happening in them.
