Design and Development of Mono-Pulse Scan Converter at 5 GHz

This paper discusses the design and development of a miniaturised mono pulse scan converter at a carrier frequency of 5 GHz which provides the scanning in azimuth axis. The scan converter is realized by using 9 dB directional coupler in defect ground plane structure, RF mixer as a biphase modulator and power combiner. The realized structure provides the minimum modulation depth of 70% for the error signal in the desired frequency band of 4.9 GHz - 5.1 GHz.
