GPR Signals Processing for the Road Pavements Monitoring with the Weak Contrast Layers

The main goal of the work is detecting internal boundaries of the road pavement with weak electrical contrast layers. The laboratory experiment sets were carried out with ground penetrating radars (GPR) with the different central frequencies and show a practical ability of detecting internal boundaries of the road pavement with weak electrical contrast layers. Based on the used GPR pulse signals numerical modelling was applied to layers with weak electric contrast and significant electrical thickness. The simulation has allowed to propose and justify possible ways to increase reliability and effectiveness of signal processing algorithms for increase in ground penetrating radar resolution during the road pavement monitoring.
