Reverse engineering of Voltage Limiting Devices in 1500 V DC Railway Lines through transient transmission line modeling

Voltage Limiting Devices are used to protect from short-circuits in DC railway lines. These switch devices should be correctly sized because their use is mandatory in order to ensure the security of the personnel and the system. For this reason we have to elaborate an adequate model of the 1500 V DC railway lines in transient mode. In this work, we describe how this model was built using PSIM software and the multi-conductors method.
