Stability and Trajectory Control for Post-Impact Vehicle Based on Fuzzy PID Algorithm

Most of the traffic accidents are caused by vehicle collisions. The vehicle is prone to yaw and lateral slip after collision resulting in more collisions. This paper addresses the possibility of post-impact control strategy which aims to reduce the risk of subsequent events. In order to understand the changes of the various vehicle states during the collision, an impact force estimation method is proposed. The post-impact control system controls both the vehicle yaw angle and lateral deviation to the original driving path by using differential braking and active steering. The post-impact control system is designed based on fuzzy PID which combines the advantages of fuzzy control and traditional PID control. It can automatically adjust the PID control parameters for different collision situations. Various collision scenarios are simulated to prove the effectiveness and adaptability of the post-impact control system.
