Impact of SSL Enabled Collaboration Tool on Clinical Research

Collaboration amongst researchers, scientists working in different time zone across different geographies is a challenge. Data acquisition from various focuses spread crosswise over globe is the demand of researchers working on common field. This study was carried out to study the effect of video conferencing (VC) tools in clinical research. Data of 3277 patients collected for different periods i.e. Pre2015 (using H.264 appliance VC) and post-2015 (SSL enabled VC) was compared and analyzed. The feedback was obtained from doctors spread across 15 different countries working in a common project. After use of SSL enabled VC, the advantages of scalability, ubiquities were observed. By adopting new solution, substantial savings were achieved. This was noticed that the average collection of patient data per annum was increased by 2.8 folds with the adoption of new technology. The survey result shows faster adoptability of new solutions. Appliance based VC on public IP addresses was insecure as compared to VC using AES-256 and SSL/TLS protocols. Manageability of VPN via IPSEC protocol was complex as compared to SSL enabled solution.
