Interfacing to the on-board diagnostic system

Modern vehicles onboard diagnostic (OBD II) information is not made available because of its relative complexity. However, with readily available computing resources, such as laptop computers, this information could be made available through a PC interface and some software. This paper describes the approach to developing such a system.
