Phase Accumulator Simulation for Advanced Digital Frequency Synthesizers

The principles of constructing direct digital frequency synthesizers with the use of the apparatus of modular arithmetic are considered. The object of research is the mathematical model and structure of specialized structural units of direct digital frequency synthesizers on the basis of modular arithmetic. The conducted experiments showed that the method of realization of arithmetic operations in modular arithmetic is based on the minimization of Boolean functions by modern heuristic methods. Experiments were conducted to prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach for modules in the range of 5-6 bits. Also, on the example of the area minimization algorithm, it was shown that optimization opportunities are not exhausted, and research on this topic is expedient to continue.
