Optimum Design and Software Implementation for RS(255,223) Decoder

RS codes which are widely used in various kinds of data communication and storage systems with its good burst error and random error correction ability. With the background of CCSDS standards to meet the RS (255, 223) code, elaborating the basic principle of RS decoding. This paper designed the RS (255, 223) decoder using Visual C++ under the Windows operating system environment and carried out a simulation. The results show that burst errors and random errors which the errors code does not exceed the maximum error correction capacity can be corrected. This improves the reliability of the communication system.
