Analysis of the Influence of Virtual Synchronous Machine on Power Transmission Limit Based on Bifurcation Theory

The access of wind turbines to the power grid will bring new challenges to the safe and stable operation of power systems. When the wind turbine adopts the virtual synchronous control strategy, it can match the characteristics of the traditional synchronous generator and solve the unstable operation problem caused by the lack of inertia. In this paper, the influence mechanism of virtual synchronous machine (VSM) model on voltage stability of power system is analyzed with bifurcation theory. The increase of the damping coefficient of the VSM and the reduction of the inertia time constant will be beneficial to the voltage stability, which can provide a basis for the wind power transmission limit.
