Utilizing Smartphone-Users for MTC Data Offloading in 5G Networks

Machine-Type communication (MTC) is experience higher energy consumption and delay due to the long distance of data transmission in the cellular networks. As a cellular networks proposed as candidates to handle the data traffics originated from MTC devices but facing high traffic congestion and overloading at massive MTC data generated region. In this context, first we propose a smartphone-user selection technique whereby the MTC devices offloads the data to the smartphone user depends on battery consumption and transmission rate. Due to the limited computation resources at selected users, some data can directly offloaded to the nearby users. To choose the best smartphone user to offload the data from MTC devices, we propose the utility function offloading that join the execution time and energy consumption of each smartphone user. The results show that the proposed utility function offloading reduces the execution time and minimize the energy consumption of MTC devices compared with others.
