Optimal Energy Consumption Oriented Car-Following Model for Electric Vehicles Traffic Flow

A new car-following model has been proposed for electric vehicle traffic stream in order to minimize the energy consumption. In particular, we first introduce the energy consumption model of electric vehicles. Then, the new car-following model is derived from the optimal energy consumption model using the minimum principle theory. Results from numerical experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model in terms of position, velocity, and acceleration profiles.
