An analysis of the balance between security and utility of mobile applications

Mobile security should be of prime importance as users are addicted to the applications they have in their mobile devices and all their day-to-day activities are no more private. During the installation, mobile device application will ask the user for specific permission which the user should give. At times the permissions requested by the mobile devices can be used to compromise the user privacy. The applications utility is inversely proportional to security. The utility includes ease of access needed for the user satisfaction. Utility feature includes login process, access to account information and overall ease of managing the account. This paper deals with the analysis of the balance of security and utility of mobile applications. For simplicity mobile applications are divided into three categories such as social networking applications, an online shopping application, financial transaction and banking applications.
