Designing Ultra-High Density Terrestrial Cables for Compatibility With Existing Infrastructure

Optical fiber and cable designs that allow network operators to reuse or extend existing infrastructure can speed deployment of next-generation networks. Two examples where infrastructure considerations guided design are presented.
