DNA based Steganography Using 2-3-3 Technique

Digital communication is the new booming trend in modern world. Internet is in the fingertips of everyone. With the encouragement given by government of India and more usage of cell phones, more and more people are moving towards digital communication. Irrespective of whether the information is important or not, everything is being digitalized and transmitted over internet. So secure communication has become the need of the day. For providing confidentiality and integrity to the secret data there are various techniques used so far like cryptography, steganography and watermarking. The combination of the following techniques provides more security to the data. DNA which can be abbreviated as Deoxyribonucleic Acid is now considered as a new cover in which data can be transmitted. Entire physical and physiological properties of any organism is stored in DNA compactly. Since DNA can store such huge amount of data in such small space, this property can be exploited. In this paper, the secret data is first converted to binary and then to DNA nitrogen bases. These nitrogen bases are in a sequence. This is called DNA sequence. Then this DNA sequence is converted to amino acids. These amino acids are further converted to binary and embedded within cover image using 2-3-3 embedding technique and transmitted through the communication channel to the receiver. At the receiver en these steps are repeated in reverse order and original data can be got back.
