Computation of Lightning Protection System for 220kV Transmission Line Inside Substation

The present paper deals study of lightning protection system (LPS) analysis of transmission line tower and substation. A typical type of transmission line tower carrying 220KV doubles circuit conductor is chosen as case study existing in urban. In assessment for the 220kV transmission line approach, the model can compute the grounding system's transient response buried in uniform, horizontal and vertical soil. The model was a protection to 220kV grounding grid substation and transmission line approaching to an impulse voltage of variable magnitudes and frame. The analysis and designing ware carried out using CDEGS software. The lightning prevention system was computed out to limiting the relationship between the shielding failure and back flashover failure rate and the model was produced in SES shield. Calculations and estimates have been made of the effects of lightning on the top of the tower to avoid the substation not being exposed to any defect. Which includes ground Earthing, the maximum sag of the conductor, vertical spacing between conductor wire. The behaviour of current risk assessment ware analyzed for different analysis according to step and touch voltage.
